Cobi d'Eau Claire presents a $400 check to the Lion's Club

Windermere Real Estate Broker Cobi D’Eau Claire presented a $400 check to the Waldport Lion’s Club on Tuesday, July 17 and another $400 was presented to Waldport’s Seashore Family Literacy program. These checks bring to almost $3,000 the proceeds from the annual “Leah’s Memorial Wet and Wild 5K Annual Fun Run and Walk” contributed over the past five years.

The event is the brain child of Windermere Real Estate Broker-Owner Michael H. Smith who organized it to carry on the legacy of newspaper reporter and editor Leah Sue Hopkins. Hopkins, a Waldport resident who succumbed to cancer in 2008, was a strong advocate for the south county communities, the Waldport schools and her beloved Waldport Irish sports teams. Through her tireless efforts, Hopkins successfully resurrected the popular Waldport Beachcomber Days where she served as President of the association in 2007.

Another $400 was presented to the Waldport Seashore Literacy Center.

The 5K (just over 3 miles) Fun Run and Walk takes place every 3rd Saturday of June in the Waldport Bayshore District. It attracts serious runners as well as many local residents who jog or walk the course, some with their pets. Prizes are awarded for participants in every category and commemorative t-shirts are available at the event.

Whether you’re an Oregon Coast resident or visitor, consider marking Saturday, June 15, 2013 on your calendar. Contact Cobi or Michael at the Windermere Seal Rock office for more information about how to participate next year.
